Do you think society judges harshly on the idea of extra weight?

There are celebrities even like Britney Spears who get slightly curvy, and society judges that as fat. Models in the 1950's were curvy and considered pretty. I think that a little extra weight is hardly considered "fat" and models/ actresses who look like they came back from a hunger strike are hardly pretty. What do you think?
