Why will the sims 2 pets not install on my computer?

Everytime the game is 97% installed there is a message saying 'A problem occurred when trying to transfer the media file 'E:\TSData\Control\control0.dat' At first I thought this was because the disc was a dvd rather than a cd but I have subsequently installed the seasons expansion pack without any problems. Please help!
